Thank
you from a new Dad
As a new Dad I wanted to write and express thanks on behalf of myself and my
family.
Last year my wife and I decided to have another child. This was a difficult decision
to make as pregnancy has never been easy for my wife and we had gone through
the heart break of losing a child early on in a previous pregnancy. Despite the
potential challenges involved, together we decided to proceed with hope of adding
another child to our life.
Because of the previous history involved with bearing children, my wife and I
were frequent visitors at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for many
ultrasounds and medical visits to keep up on her condition. In her final trimester
she became diabetic which meant another challenge in helping to keep our yet-unborn
baby healthy.
I was told that I was born in a storm and I guess our child takes after me because
it was a stormy weekend when the time came. Unexpectedly during the delivery
it was discovered that the umbilical cord was wrapped, not once but twice, around
our baby’s throat and was also knotted. Thanks to the medical expertise
of the doctor and medical team, our little one was born safely and is now home
with our family.
On behalf of myself and probably other soon-to-be Dads in Cumberland, thank you
for having supported the Cumberland Health Care Foundation and the Cumberland
Health Care Auxiliary in the past. Your donation helped bring in equipment and
resources that helped us and probably will help others in the future. If you
haven’t yet supported the Growing Care campaign, please consider doing
so.
