Thank you for helping my wife

I wanted to write and say “thank you” to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre and the work of the Foundation in helping to keep doctors, nurses and other staff equipped with updated medical equipment and resources.

Not too long ago my wife was admitted by ambulance to the local hospital. We discovered one morning that she simply couldn’t get out of bed or wake up. It’s a frightening thing when someone you’ve lived and raised a family with for more than 40 years, and now enjoy grandkids with, could unexpectedly be gone from your life.

Because of what they discovered in Amherst she was sent to Halifax for emergency surgery and returned home after surgery. We still go to the regional hospital for follow up care because we want to keep her healthy for a long time.

I’m your basic kind of guy in Cumberland. I’ve worked hard my whole life to take care of my wife and family, I was raised on a farm and I learned the meaning of not having much and that you have to work hard to get to where you are in life. Most importantly, we were taught to take care of each other – it’s something we believe in - take care of your family and your community. If it wasn’t for the services of the regional hospital, the staff, and the updated equipment, I might have lost someone who is important to my family and most importantly to me.

Thank you for having supported the hospital foundation in its campaign and in raising money for equipment. I hope that you and others will continue to support the Cumberland Health Care Foundation.
