SIDHU, CRISTINA C.

Cristina is received her BFA in 1991 from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She also studied for a year at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London, England as part of her Fine Arts degree.

After graduating she fell into a career in Graphic Design where she worked for various firms in the Toronto area until establishing her own business in 1996 which sought to offer fine art services as well as graphic design.

In 2005 she was instructed by noted pastel artist Dave Beckett in mastering the medium of Soft Pastel. Cristina had found her medium of trade and began to work exclusively in Soft Pastel. In 2006 she moved to the Amherst area where she, having been incredibly inspired by the natural beauty of the Maritimes, has been painting and exhibiting regularly ever since. Her works have been accepted and shown at Local, National and Internationally Juried Exhibits. She is an elected Signature Member of the Canadian Portrait Academy (CPA), member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS), an Executive Board member of the Sackville Art Association (SAA), the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club of NYC, and Pastel Artists Canada (PAC).

Recently Cristina has been exploring the oil medium and in particular Encaustic, which is a blending of hot wax and oil pigments on a hard surface which is then melted, carved and otherwise manipulated resulting in a more abstract, dimensional work of art.

She is currently accepting commissions. For further information or to contact the artist please see the Foundation office or visit www.sidhufineart.com
