MCKEE,
COLLEEN
Born in Trois-Rivieres Quebec and raised in New Brunswick and northern Ontario, Colleen moved to Nova Scotia from Toronto with her husband and son in 1988 and currently resides in Cumberland County.
Her interests in painting and drawing began in childhood and has continued throughout her life. Colleen’s formal study of art began at the University of Toronto and has continued at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where she is now in the final year of a BFA programme. Colleen has also been a supporter of the arts as a volunteer for the Dalhousie Art Gallery, as a docent at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and as a member of the board (representing Cumberland/Colchester) of Visual Arts Nova Scotia for the past two years. She was also a member of the Bedford Basin Artists Association for a number of years and exhibited with them as well as being editor of their newsletter.
In addition to art, Colleen has had a longstanding interest in nature and the environment, and she seeks to combine these themes in her art, painting in a realists style in oil, acrylic and watercolour. Now that her husband has retired she is able to spend more time in her home studio on the Northumberland Strait near Northport where she is working on a series of paintings that feature scenes of the area.
To contact the artist, please email: ec.mckee@ns.sympatico.ca or call 902 661 4328.
