MCCABE, COLIN
Colin has been painting for about 50 years. After retiring from teaching at Tantramar High School in 1987 he started working at it more consistently. He switched from oils to watercolor and has really enjoyed that medium. His motivation comes chiefly from the local landscape, and enjoys getting out and painting in the open air. The shoreline, the marsh and the fields are his inspiration. In colder weather when he can’t work outside or from his car, he uses photographs – almost always they are pictures that he has taken himself.
Joan Gregory has been an outstanding help to improving my skills. Having attended weekly sessions with her form many years, he has attended workshops and taken evening course from such artists as Ted Pulford, Christopher Pratt, Linda Kemp, Peter Humeniuk, Henry Vyfinckel, Ron Hazell, Margaret Roseman, John Amos, Barbara Simmons and Tony Van Hasselt.
He has been an executive member of the Sackville Art Association for many years. His work has been shown at a number of their shows and sales. He has participated in the Shediac Art Fair and has work at The Craft Gallery at the Sackville Visitors Centre. Works are sold from his home by appointment.
To contact the artist, please email him at annecol@nb.sympatico.ca or contact the Foundation office .
