LEBLANC, JACKIE
Born in England, and educated in Ontario, Jackie settled in Amherst with her husband Carl in 1971. In 1993, after spending most of her life in the graphic arts field, Jackie decided to start devoting more time to fulfilling a deep-rooted, lifelong ambition – that of painting for sheer enjoyment.
Watercolour has become her favoured medium, and her love of the seashore… most often her inspiration, although she does enjoy doing the occasional portrait and still life. She has attended many courses and workshops allowing her the opportunity and good fortune to study with several internationally-known artists.
She is a member of the Sackville (N.B.) Art Association, the Truro Art Society and an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour. Her work is exhibited annually in group shows at Owens Art Gallery in Sackville, N.B., where she was a featured artist in 2000-01, and at the Cumberland County Museum. She has also exhibited in the Seniors’ Gallery at the World Trade & Convention Center, Halifax, and with Visual Arts Nova Scotia in Truro. In September 2006 three of Jackie’s paintings were accepted into a juried show which was open to Associate members of Atlantic division of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (CSPWC).
