LAUNCELOTT, ANNE
Anne has lived in Halifax for the past 29 years. She owned her first camera at the age of 14 and has had a love of photography ever since. For over 30 years she has worked in black and white photography developing her own prints in the dark room.
Anne has made colour digital photography the main focus of her artistic expression since 2005 after being introduced to Miksang contemplative photography. Anne feels that colour photography is the medium that best expresses her creativity and attraction to light, texture, colour and gesture.
Artist Statement
Anne’s photography explores the beauty in common everyday objects and daily life, revealing the essence of the subject through colour, texture, the interplay of light and shadow, and, in the case of people, gesture. Her contemplative approach results in a contemporary image that captures and draws you into the decisive moment.
For this show, Anne has chosen four images, shot on three consecutive days, from a recent trip to The Great Sand Dunes National Park in Crestone, Colorado. These photos depict the “moods” of the dune landscape due to the changing weather conditions and differing times of day in which they were shot.
