LA ROCQUE, SHARLANE
Born in Quebec, and educated in Paris, France and Vienna, Austria, and lately in Taipei, Taiwan, I have sought to express my feelings through the only medium that allows me to bring forward the beauty of the nature around me.
Today’s exhibition, expresses for me the shapes and endless possibilities of white on sky blue. This series of paintings is for me my first attempt at a new unconventional way in expressing the flowing branches of trees that surround me at Dad's and Mom's, in Pugwash.
When I get a feeling to paint, it is because God has inspired me by His creativity. I see many wonderous colors on a grey and gloomy day.
For instance, just look out towards the forests and fields to notice the different shades of sienna, plum, ochre, or payne's grey colored branches reaching out with very minute buds, practically dots... and I want to capture it for myself and perhaps share it with you. If you would take a moment you may also be like me, in awe of His light on the cold, wet earth after the storm.
The series of "WHITE ANGELS"which are the lilacs, represent for me, the Nurses at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre – always watching over us during our times of healthcare need.
