COLLINS, ARLENE D.
Growing up in the country, Arlene’s love for art began at a young age, sketching wildlife scenes and admiring the beauty of landscapes. Born in Yorke Settlement, near Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, Arlene began painting in the early 90’s; first experimenting with acrylics, but preferring oils because of better control and a truer color.
Arlene is a self-taught artist and experiments with new techniques and subjects. With her family grown, Arlene is now able to devote an immense amount of energy in her work, perfecting her techniques, exhibiting in galleries and art shows, and showing her collections in her home gallery.
Arlene is a member of Visual Arts Nova Scotia. She donated a wildlife painting to Sherman Hines for his annual fund-raising auction in aid of “Nova Scotia Wildlife Federation.” She was also commissioned to paint a Parrsboro landscape for the local Art Guild for a scholarship fund and to paint wall murals for the Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro. One piece of artwork has been accepted by Ducks Unlimited Canada for reproduction. Other painting donations helped to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness and AIDS Coalition.
For additional information on the artist, please visit the Foundation office and they will arrange contact with the artist for you.
