CHILTON, JOANNE

Born in Summerside, PEI, and of Acadian heritage, Joanne spent her childhood growing up in rural Nova Scotia. Her creative spirit blossomed during quiet times exploring boxes of old photographs. A small red box camera given to her as a gift opened the door to photography, and another world of creativity.

Joanne’s work has been featured in several magazines and book covers, and has exhibited her photography nationally and internationally. She received national attention in 2003 when the cover of The Antigonish Review, featuring one of her images, won a top award from the Canadian Magazine Publishers Association. That same year, Joanne was featured in a CBC television documentary program Artiste dans l’Ame in an episode entitled “Parallel Worlds.”
