Our Initiatives

Cumberland Cancer Assistance
Cumberland Cancer Assistance has been designed to provide a helping hand when all other avenues of funding have been explored and/or exhausted for Cumberland County residents fighting cancer. Donations may help to fund transportation for treatment, food & nutritional assistance, and other areas as identified by the Cancer Navigator as being required to maintain the health of the cancer patient.

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Fund
The "Cardiovascular Disease Fund" (CVD) has been designed to provide financial assistance for education, prevention and treatment initiatives regarding cardiovascular disease and related chronic illnesses affecting Cumberland County residents.

Careers Bursary Program
Bursary program for local students to recruit qualified health care professionals to replace our dedicated staff who will be retiring over the next five to ten years.

Hospital & Healthcare Volunteer Program
Donations to the Volunteer Fund allow the Foundation to continue to support a county-wide hospital and healthcare volunteer program. Volunteers are utilized for friendly patient visiting and hospital visitor information as well as for assisting public health, mental health, and palliative care activities during the year.

Cumberland Health Care Art Gallery
The art gallery is a joint initiative between the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary and the Cumberland Health Care Foundation. This special project allows local artisans to feature their works. A commission on the sale of the artwork is then presented to the auxiliary and foundation and will be used to purchase equipment for the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Equipment Fund
The "Equipment Fund" has been designed to provide funding for replacement and/or new equipment at the County's regional acute care centre – the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Holly Spicer Healing Garden
A healing garden was constructed at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre at the bequest of the late Holly L. Spicer.

Mental Health Fund
Donations to the Mental Health Fund supports programming related to the prevention, treatment and client support activities provided through Cumberland Mental Health Services which would not otherwise be funded. Examples include funding for autism initiatives, adolescent youth programs, and respite services.

Mental Health – Project Clubhouse
The Clubhouse Model offers community rehabilitation of persons with severely disabling psychiatric illnesses. Donations enable this model to be delivered by CHA Mental Health Services and assists patients with being able to receive treatment (transportation).

Palliative Care Fund
The "Palliative Care Fund" has been designed to provide funding for the Cumberland Health Authority's (CHA) Palliative Care Program. It funds such things as equipment, services, training and a variety of other items required to enhance palliative care services for patients and their families.
