AMHERST, NS (December 2nd, 2009) – The lights will be glowing a bit more brighter today due to a contribution from one of the County’s larger employers. The local division of TeleTech has again sponsored a 6 foot lighted tree as part of its community commitment to healthcare through a $2000 from their TeleTech Foundation.
“We’re extremely pleased,” said David Wood, Chair of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation, “that TeleTech has again sponsored this tree which is located near the Maternal / Child Unit at the regional hospital. As a large area employer they recognize the importance of having quality healthcare for their employees and their families.”
This year the Cumberland Health Care Foundation’s “Light the Way!” campaign seeks to raise funds for new or replacement hospital equipment. This year the goal is to raise $71,000 to provide for new medical equipment such as three (3) new beds for the Intensive Care Unit and a portable ventilator for the Respiratory Therapy Department at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Although the official launch night of this year’s “Light the Way!” event was cancelled due to H1N1 concerns, all lighted ornaments will still be officially turned on the evening of Wednesday, December 2nd and remain on until January 3rd.
