There’s a smile in every one of them
AMHERST, NS (June 5, 2009) – The Cumberland Health Care Art Gallery located on the main floor of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre is currently exhibiting the works of Kim Goodwin.
“Painting makes me happy and I hope to bring a smile to those who look at my art work,” said Goodwin, “I’ve been at the Cumberland Regional many, many times over the years with my family – the staff are wonderful and have helped me to smile at times when I didn’t really think I could. It’s my turn to hopefully bring a smile to them, the other patients and their families.”
Her works are memorable due to their funky, folky, rich and dynamic compositions. Whimsicalness derived from her intensely vivid palette and strong use of colors makes her works exciting, impacting and very original.
A self-taught artist who began to paint in 2002, Goodwin was born and raised in Amherst and now resides in Truro. She returns home almost weekly at times to visit with family members.
“We’ve already had a good initial impact with people while we were hanging the pieces”, said Joe Gauthier, Managing Director of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation, “they absolutely love the colors, the simplicity of the features, and remark how it would be a perfect for their cottage or a newly done room requiring a piece of brightness.”
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation has a total of four galleries at the regional hospital with a portion of each sale going supporting the purchase of new medical equipment for the regional hospital.
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is a registered Canadian not-for-profit charity dedicated to enhancing the provision of a high standard of health care within Cumberland County by raising funds and supporting new and improved services, programs, equipment and facilities.
