AMHERST, NS (November 6th, 2008) – The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is pleased to be the recipient of $5,000 from the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary in support of this year’s “Light the Way!”.
In presenting the cheque to the Foundation’s Light the Way Committee, Auxiliary President Bob Janes spoke of the need for individuals and families to continue lighting the way for others in need. “We don’t often think about how simple it is to help someone,” said Janes “to give a smile, share a joke, or simply be there when someone needs a hand. By supporting this year’s Light the Way, the Auxiliary is stating “let your light shine” to give both remembrance and hope to others.”
This will be the eleventh annual holiday campaign for the Cumberland Health Care Foundation. Each year’s “Light the Way!” seeks to raise funds for new or replacement hospital equipment. This year, the goal is to raise $55,000 to provide for three (3) new electrocardiogram machines (ECGs) at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
“The Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary has always been there to help,” said Joe Gauthier, Foundation Managing Director, “they’re a great group who are dedicated to improving the lives of others through healthcare. We’re very proud to have them as one of our major sponsors this year”
This year’s “Light the Way!” event will be held on the evening of Wednesday, December 3rd starting at 5:30 with the lighting occurring at approximately 6pm.
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is a registered Canadian not-for-profit charity dedicated to enhancing the provision of a high standard of health care within Cumberland County by raising funds and supporting new and improved services, programs, equipment and facilities.
