AMHERST, NS (August 8, 2008) – After what has seemed like many wet days of an Atlantic summer, the sun rose this Friday and blessed the 13th Annual Highland Classic Golf Tournament in support of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation. Thirty-five teams took to the Amherst Golf Course to raise just under $36,000 in support of the Foundation’s goal of enhancing healthcare for county residents.

“It is great to see such a range of local and widespread support for the foundation and the donations that people have put towards improving the equipment and services already given here at our local hospital,” stated Sean Cheverie, vice chair of the Foundation, “it’s a mutual benefit for both the sporting community and those in the community who require healthcare now and in the future.

Local physician Dr. Krystian Szczesny and partner Eva Kreft helped to make up the team of Olympus Canada which shot a 55 to cinch the Classic Cup this year composed of himself, Kreft, Greg Doody and Paul Thellab.

“It would not have been as successful of a tournament if it were not for the help of the sponsors involved, the donors who registered to play and of course the volunteers, who did an excellent job at running the event,” Cheverie said, “we would like to send out an special thank you to everyone who played a role and we hope to see them out again next year.”

Although there were no lucky winners of the four hole-in-one holes where a vehicle could have been won, the following teams and individuals took the following categories.
