AMHERST, NS (June 12, 2008) – The Cumberland Health Care Foundation recently received a donation from the Moncton Chapter of the Canadian Celiac Association in support of its Growing Care campaign.
"We appreciate the assistance your hospital provides to those with Celiac Disease (and the related condition Dematitis Herpetiformis)," stated Moncton Chapter President, Mike Murphy, "from diagnostic and follow-up procedures such as scopes and blood tests, to dietetic counseling for the gluten-free diet and the provision of gluten-free food to the hospitalized celiac."
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is currently at 95% of its goal. The Foundation is seeking to raise $1.6 million of the total $2.49 million cost for the addition and equipping of the third operating room, the new echocardiogram machine, an updated x-ray machine, and a new Ultra-Sound.
"We’re into the home stretch of completing the campaign," said Sean Cheverie, Chair of the Growing Care Campaign, "as you know we were disappointed when not all of our major requests for funding came through but that’s the reality of today’s tightening budgets. We’re fortunate that our campaign committee has the commitment and energy to keep going - unexpected donations such as those of the Celiac Association are greatly appreciated."
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is a registered Canadian not-for-profit charity dedicated to enhancing the provision of a high standard of health care within Cumberland County by raising funds and supporting new and improved services, programs, equipment and facilities.
