AMHERST,
NS (August 17, 2007) – The Cumberland Health Care
Foundation thanked the CEO of Heritage Gas, Ray Ritcey
at the recent Highland Classic Charity Golf Tournament
for Heritage’s commitment of $15,000 towards its
current Growing Care campaign.
The Foundation and the volunteers of the Growing Care campaign
are currently working on raising the final $260,000 of its
2.5 million target. Campaign chair Sean Cheverie commented, “dollars
donated are already at work for county residents and their
families with the third operating room opening last year
and the new echo cardiogram machine helping to provide over
1100 cardiac examinations last year alone - but we need to
raise that final component to ensure a new routine ultrasound
machine comes to our community.”
The Routine Ultrasound machine will benefit patients undergoing
investigation for abdominal and breast cancer, examinations
of extremities for blood clots, thyroid conditions, and of
course, pregnancy. The improved technology will also enable
the ability to spot bowel and stomach cancer earlier. Digital
imaging equipment upgrading also helps to improve the patient
experience as patients are able to have the processes done
quicker, helping to potentially reduce wait times.
Donations to the “Growing Care” campaign can
be made at the Cumberland Health Care Foundation office located
at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, by calling
902 667-5400 ext. 6210 or by visiting the website www.chcfoundation.com.
