Series
of local artists bring works to hospital gallery
AMHERST, NS (August 1st, 2007) – The Cumberland Health
Care Art Gallery located on the main floor of the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre is currently exhibiting the works
of five artists: Shirley Barnes, Diane Fralich, Anne Crowell,
Harvey Dobson, and Joanne Chilton. A mixture of mediums between
watercolor, acrylic, oils and photography are now on now
displayed across the four galleries on the main level.
“We’re extremely pleased to have the support of local artists and
other artists who were originally from the County,” states Managing Director
Joe Gauthier “the diversity of the mediums, framing, and topics helps
to illustrate that everyone can visualize a different piece of the County’s
landscapes or within a broader geographic terrain.”
Both
Crowell and Barne’s work are fairly well-known within
the community for their work in watercolors. A sample of
Crowell’s work entitled “Herbie” is shown
to the right.
The following is a listing of gallery exhibits:

“It’s a unique kind of art gallery,” continued Gauthier, “a
person can come see local works, take a walk in the Holly Spicer Healing Garden,
enjoy a cup of coffee or tea from the Café and even do a little shopping
at the Auxiliary gift shop while visiting a family member or friend at the
hospital”.
Harvey
Dobson has the largest collection of works currently on
display featuring landscapes, waterfowl, and deer with
some unique hand made frames in both Galleries 1 and 2 – shown

A portion of the sale of each piece is donated to the Cumberland
Health Care Foundation and the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary
which is utilized for the purchase of new and updated medical
equipment for the regional acute care cente – the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre.
