AMHERST
- Helping people in a time of need has been a major
part of the mandate of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation
(CHCF).
Each of those people has various requirements that
must be administered to on a regular basis and it
take vast resources to ensure they receive this help.
Many local businesses alike have come on board to
help in these areas.
A group that has over a century of history in Amherst
and the surrounding area has solidified their support
of the Foundation by making a generous donation as
part of their own celebration here Thursday.
CIBC celebrated 120 years of service in Amherst and
marked the occasion by announcing a $7,500 contribution
to the Cumberland Health Care Foundation's Growing
Care Campaign.
"The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is thrilled to receive this gift
from CIBC for our Growing Care Campaign," Sean Cheverie, campaign chair
said.
"With CIBC celebrating its 120th anniversary, they have set an example
for other organizations as to how to embrace their history and use that knowledge
to help them grow and move forward in providing services," he added.
Terry Gardiner, market vice-president; Dave Hopper,
associate vice-president and Gary McMullen, branch
manager; presented the cheques recently at the anniversary's
open house to Cheverie and Jodi Swan, managing director
of Cumberland Health Care Foundation.
"CIBC is proud to have provided funding required to support the CUmberland
Health Care Foundation's campaign to purchase equipment, provide new and improved
services and programming," Gardiner said.
"It is with great pride that we stand beside Cumberland Health Care as
one of their partners, enabling them to continue their important and vital
work on behalf of the community."
CIBC held an open house that highlighted its existence
in the Amherst market, the people they have provided
service to and the various locations that have housed
the bank over the past 120 years.
Photos of the former sites were on display for all
those to see and a large number of former employees
and managers were on hand with the corporate representatives
for the celebration.
The foundation has acted as the fundraising arm for
the regional hospital and other Cumberland Health
Authority initiatives since its inception in 1993.
This has been made possible through special gifts
in kind, annuities, life insurance, will bequests
and donation of all kinds.
