Janet Christie bequeaths $5,000 to hospital foundation
- Staff - Amherst Daily News AMHERST - The late Janet S. Christie of Amherst has
left a lasting legacy of in the form of a $5,000 donation
to the endowment fund of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation.
Christie's donation will benefit the health of Cumberland
County residents for years to come.
A life long resident of Amherst, Christie has been a long
time supporter of health related projects including the hospital
auxiliary and the Above and Beyond Campaign. So it isn't
surprising that in making her estate plan, she included the
Cumberland Health Care Foundation as a recipient of her estate.
"Miss Christie has exhibited a true act of philanthropy. Philanthropy
is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving
and sharing that is primary to the quality of life,"
Jodi Swan, managing director of the foundation said.
She added the Cumberland Health Care Foundation has a bright
future in supporting various needs at the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Canter. "One way we address our future is
through our endowment program," added Swan. "By
building those funds, we increase the financial stability
of the Cumberland Health Care Centre Foundation and provide
a stream of income that we can depend on.
