Dear Friend of the Foundation,
This is the 10th holiday season that will see us “Light the Way”! We’re
inviting you and yours to join with us in making this a very special and memorable
occasion.
“Light the Way”! is
a very meaningful campaign that allows us to remember those who are no longer
with us, at this very special time of year. You are invited to participate
by naming a light, wreath or angel in honor or in memory of a loved one. In
some cases you need no other reason than “just because”.

These
lights will be lit in a special ceremony on Wednesday,
December 5, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Centre
at 5:30pm. We’ve made some special changes this
year including holding the event in the Courtyard between
the Café and the Cafeteria where, in the event of colder
than normal weather, individuals, families, and patients
can view the lighting through the banks of windows. A
special animated musical light show is planned in conjunction
with local choirs, activities for children, warm hospitality
and refreshments! Free parking will be available for
the event. Rumour has it that Mr. & Mrs.
Claus will also be coming!

The
lights will remain lit throughout the Holiday season in
honor of your contribution to the Cumberland Health Care
Foundation. Your valuable donation will assist the Foundation
in purchasing five (5) defibrillators for this regional acute
care centre at a cost of $50,000. Defibrillators are used
in the event of cardiac arrest to restart a patient’s heart – you’ve
probably seen them on television or in movies where pads
are placed on the chest and an electrical current is passed
through the patient to start the heart again. The defibrillator
replacements are needed for the Units of Intensive Care,
Emergency, Medical and Maternal/Child. To date, the “Light
the Way”! campaign
has proven to be the most successful fundraising event for the Foundation
and with your continued support we will be able to provide the needed replacement
equipment for the regional hospital.

We
encourage you to invite friends and family members from
inside and outside of the County to participate in this
event – it helps spread the spirit of hope
for patients and their families of being able to return home and to remember
and honor those not with us this holiday season – please
help us “Light
the Way”! .
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation,
warmest wishes for a holiday season filled with peace, love, and happiness. All
the best for a healthy and prosperous 2008!
Many thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
